MASONRY
Brick & Block Estimator
Estimate the masonry units needed for a wall project. Enter the wall dimensions and choose brick or block. The calculator accounts for the selected unit size and mortar joints. Add material pricing to estimate total costs. Use the results to plan your material order.
How to Calculate Brick & Block Estimator
The estimate starts with wall face area, then applies the selected material coverage rate and adds a 5 percent allowance for cuts and breakage. Unit coverage is determined by the selected brick or block option.
- Wall area = wall length x wall height.
- Estimated units = round up(wall area x selected units per square foot x 1.05).
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the estimate include extra units?
The 5 percent allowance helps cover cuts, damaged units, and minor layout variations; complex bond patterns or many openings may require a different allowance.
Are doors and windows subtracted from the wall area?
The estimate uses the full entered length and height. For walls with large openings, subtract their area from the wall area before estimating or adjust the result with your mason.
